Wonderful Community Program from Albany, Oregon – Shop with a Cop

Oregon’s Democrat-Herald reported that 22 of the law enforcement officers from Albany Police Department, Oregon State Police, and Linn County Sheriff’s Office spent time with kids with less-than fortunate circumstances to shop gifts for the kids’ families. Democrat-Herald further reported that even though few of the 50 kids spent more than the $50 limit (per family), their shopping buddy will invariably open their own wallet to make up the difference.

According to Karen Cook, office manager with the Child Welfare Division at the Department of Human Services, “it’s important that the children get to see the officers in a better light.”
